Sunday is the Last Day of the Alameda County Fair

Today's Highlights: Tracy Lawrence, Fiesta Hispana, Horse Races, Geocaching and a Cheesecake Contest

Hours: 10 a.m. - 10 p.m.

Concert: Tracy Lawrence, 6 p.m. and 8 p.m., Amphitheater

Highlights: Cheesecake Contest, 10-11 a.m., Festival Square.

Geocaching, 10 a.m. - 10 p.m., Science and Outdoor Adventure Building. Adventure seekers will use GPS devices to find hidden containers and win prizes. Friday-Sunday at the fair.

Fiesta Hispana theme at Festival Square. It will include: all manner of Mexican food, a 12:30 p.m. cooking demonstration by Chef Salvador Arciniega, a 12:45 p.m. performance by Fuego Nuevo Ballet Folklorico, a 2 p.m. tamale-tasting contest, a roving Mariachi band at 3:30 p.m., and at 4:30 p.m. Tortilla Soup performs.

Carribean cooking demonstration, 1:30-2 p.m., Festival Square Stage.

At the Race Track: Horses run from 1:15 - 5:45 p.m.

Getting There:

  • General parking at the fairgrounds, $8, preferred parking (Gate 8), $15
  • BART shuttle available from the Dublin/Pleasanton station
  • Catch a Wheels Route 8 bus, which has a drop-off at the fair on Pleasanton Avenue. BART riders go right upon exiting the fair gate to get to the Route 8 bus bay.
