Two Llamas at Alameda Point

In addition to all our native wildlife, Alameda Patch reader Jeff Cambra sent in this report of a Friday afternoon llama sighting.

It was a typical Friday lunch on the deck at : Warm day, glass of Chardonnay, the cheeseburger special, glass of Chardonnay (no, this is not a typo), and a great view of San Francisco.

Later, walking to the car, I suspected I might have had one too many glasses when I saw two adult llamas on Monarch Street.

I considered going back to the table and telling my friend Richard that he needed to drive me home!

But, as it turns out, the llamas were real.

The tall, camel-like, South American natives live on a small ranch behind the Claremont Hotel in the Oakland Hills. The owners bring the pair to the Point to train them to pull carts.

There's nothing like Peru-zing the Point on a Friday afternoon!
