Will You Marry Me? A Patch Love Story

A new twist in online romance

Normally the Patch network focuses on what we call "hyperlocal" news -- each site's home city and, to a lesser degree, nearby communities. There's nothing East Bay, or even California, about this story, but we do think it is a Patch "first."

The first marriage proposal via Patch, that is.

Wednesday, a Pennsylvania man, Jay Hammond, popped the question to his girlfriend, Sue Conway, via a story on his local Patch site. (We think there was a little collusion with the local editor, James Myers, as the proposal wasNorristown Patch's top article of the evening.)

Jay and Sue were together at a local tavern when the story broke. We are happy to report that Sue said, "Yes."
