1) Dead Body Found in Van Parked Outside Nob Hill Supermarket
The body of a 53-year-old man was found in a van parked outside Nob Hill Supermarket in early December. The body is still currently being held by the Alameda County coroner's bureau, which is performing an autopsy to determine the cause of death.
2) Six Alameda Teens Injured in Morning Accident
A 15-year-old driver sustained life-threatening injuries when a car hit a tree on Island Drive back in July. The five passengers in the car received non-life-threatening injuries. According to police, the car belonged to the parents of one of the passengers and was taken without permission.
3) Coliseum Event: A Noisy Night for Alameda
A rave held at the Oakland Coliseum back in September drew many complaints among neighboring residents and hundreds of comments among our readers.
4) Reported Hanging Body Shuts Down High Street Bridge
Alameda Police closed the bridge down for about an hour to investigate a body that was reported hanging off the bridge in November.
The City of Oakland and Oakland-Alameda County Coliseum officials issued a joint apology after East Bay residents flooded local police departments with complaints about noise from a September rave.
6) Two Dead in Apparent Murder-Suicide
The incident occurred in Alameda Avenue in February. Investigators said the man and woman apparently had previously been in a romantic relationship.
7) Food Trucks Head to Alameda: Saturday's Menu
The food-truck festival Off the Grid finally drove off the mainland and onto the Island in June. South Shore Shopping Center is one of five areas designated "food-truck friendly" by the City of Alameda in an ordinance adopted in February.
8) Teen Driver Still Critical After Collision
An update one month after the 15-year-old driver who crashed a car into a tree on Island Drive in June.
9) Former Alameda Civic Leader's Grandson Arrested in Berkeley Slaying
Daniel Jordan Dewitt, 23, was a 2007 graduate of Alameda High School. He was arrested in connection with a Berkeley slaying in February and is the grandson of former Alameda city councilman and civic leader Al DeWitt.
