UNDER THE INFLUENCE OF CATALUNYA

Twenty years to the day after her house burned to the ground on October
20th 1991 in the Oakland Hills fire, Marcy traveled alone to Spain and
spent a month in solitude, exploring, walking, painting daily and
exploring her dark side. The small pieces she painted there became the
studies for this series of larger studio paintings. These paintings are
influenced by Barcelona and its' architecture, the Catalan artist Joan
Miro, and the darkness of November in Catalunya.
