The 14th Annual Kiwanis Chili Cook-Off and Barbecue Dinner will be held at the “O” Club on Saturday, January 26 from 5:30pm to 10:00pm. The cook-off challenges individuals and teams to be judged the city’s best chili, as determined by the votes of the guests and a special panel of expert chefs. Following the chili tasting, an all-you-can-eat dinner will be provided by Back Forty Texas Bar-B-Q.
The annual Chili Cook-Off is one of Alameda’s most popular charity events. The evening is packed full of rollicking fun: chili tasting, BBQ dinner, silent auction, raffle prizes with chance to win an iPad or iPad Mini, entertainment by Dance Ten, and Western line dancing. Western attire is encouraged.
This event is Kiwanis Club of Alameda’s major fundraiser during the year. Proceeds benefit local youth and Alameda nonprofit organizations. (Last year, Alameda Kiwanis distributed over $18,000 to local charities.)
Tickets can be purchased online at the Kiwanis website www.alamedakiwanis.org/chili.htm, in person at the Bank of Alameda (1416 Park Street branch), or by calling Dave Denyven at (510) 290-3342. Tickets are $50 for adults and $25 for youth.
