Learn about the upcoming Health Insurance Marketplace from 7:00 – 9:00 pm on Thursday, February 28, at a free panel discussion sponsored by the League of Women Voters of Alameda (LWVA) at the Mastick Senior Center Social Hall at 1155 Santa Clara Avenue. Cosponsors for this event include Alameda Hospital and the Alameda Chamber of Commerce.
The new federal health care law, passed in 2010, is officially called the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (“Affordable Care Act”). When implemented late in 2013, the Health Insurance Marketplace, a part of the new system, will radically change how we obtain and use health insurance. The LWVA is pleased to present an educational panel discussion on the Affordable Care Act (also referred to as Obamacare) with:
- David Sayen, Regional Administrator, Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS)
The Mastick Senior Center is an accessible, ADA-compliant facility. Free parking is available: the parking lot entrance is on Santa Clara Avenue between Bay Street and St. Charles Street.
Additional health care information is available from the US Department of Health and Human Services’ Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services at http://www.healthcare.gov/marketplace and from this article provided by CMS Regional Administrator David Sayen.
The mission of Alameda Hospital at 2070 Clinton Avenue in Alameda is “to be the provider of choice and the center of health care services for the community.” The Alameda Chamber of Commerce is “the voice of the business community” that is “here to represent and advocate on behalf of businesses in Alameda.”
The League of Women Voters, a 501(c) (3) nonpartisan and nonprofit public policy educational organization, offers voter service and citizen education activities to increase citizen participation in our democracy, study community issues, and support positive public policy solutions.
