State of the Alameda Unified School District (AUSD) - Forum March 27, 7-9 PM

State of Alameda’s Public Schools” during the League


of Women Voters of Alameda
’s (LWVA’s) free

public forum
at the Community Center of

Harbor Bay Isle
on Thursday, March 27, from

7:00 – 9:00 pm.

President Sherratt and Superintendent Vital will outline AUSD’s current accomplishments and challenges, from rising student test scores and graduation

rates to complex district finances and facilities in need of upgrades. They will discuss the current Facilities Master Plan, the potential 2014facilities renovation bond issue, the new Common Core State Standards, the state’s new school financing system (the Local Control Funding Formula), and other topics. 

All are welcome at this forum; a

question-and-answer session will follow the officials’ presentations.



The

LWVA and AUSD have worked together to increase the district’s transparency and

community engagement. “We welcome this opportunity to talk about the good work we are doing as well as the challenges,” Superintendent Vital says. “We value

our relationship with the League of Women Voters and look forward to their questions

and comments.”
