100th Anniversary of Girl Scouts Celebration

Calling All Girl Scouts

If you ever were or are now a girl scout, the world wide council would like to celebrate the hundredth birthday of girl scouts, and you’re invited. We are celebrating on Monday, March 12, 2012 from 6:30 to 7:30 at the south shore shopping center.

Girl Scouts was founded by Juliette Gordon Low in 1912, one hundred years later we thank her for changing the lives of girls all over the world. It all started after her husband’s death when she met Robert Baden-Powell, the founder of Boy Scouts, who became a good friend of Juliette and introduced her to the ideas he had come up with, upon hearing of Boy Scouts she wanted to create a girls league. She started with girls in Scotland and London, and then moved to Savannah. The new fad got on; soon every girl wanted a part in the fun. Girl Scouts created a new type of girl; one who was curious, active, smart, creative, outgoing, enthusiastic, kind, caring, and unique. These girls made differences in the world and in themselves. To signify one hundred years between corsets and skinny jeans, all councils will celebrate in their own special way at 7:12 which is 1912 military time.
