Ship of Spirits: A Special Presentation on the Spirits That Still Call the USS Hornet Home

Is the USS Hornet haunted? Do you dare explore the Hornet afterhours with only a flashlight as your guide?

The USS Hornet will present Ship of Spirits, featuring a special lecture by psychic and parapsychologist Dr. Pamela Heath, at 7:00 p.m. - midnight, Fri., Oct. 28. Cost is $45 per person and space is limited. To purchase tickets call (510) 521-8448  x 282

Dr. Heath has been investigating the Hornet and its reported paranormal activity for more than 13 years.  She has written numerous books, including “Mind-Matter Interaction: Study into the phenomena of psychokinetic.”  She was also a judge on the Travel Channel’s “Paranormal Challenge.”

Following the lecture, a haunted flashlight tour of areas reported to be home to spirits that never left the ship as well as areas not yet open to the general public will be given. Areas that will be part of the ghost tour are:

  • Combat Information Center (CIC)
  • Message Center (Radio Central)
  • Mess Deck
  • Sidewinder Missile Assembly Room
  • Brig
  • Catapult Machinery Room
  • Sick Bay
  • Captain and Admiral’s In Port State Rooms
  • Flight Deck and Island
  • Focsle and Secondary Con

Can’t attend the lecture? The USS Hornet will be holding its annual Monster Bash on Oct. 29 from 7:30 p.m. to midnight on the ship located at 707 W. Hornet Ave., Pier 3, Alameda.

The entire family will have a frightfully good time throughout the night with haunted tours, dancing and a costume contest. Food and beverages will be available for purchase along with a cash bar.

Guests will be able to dance the night away to the unique, multi-decade sound of The Cocktail Monkeys.

As you explore the decks of the ship be careful not to take a wrong turn and end up at the Haunted Hospital where evil doctors will be conducting weird experiments that could go horribly wrong and you never know who might be their next patient.

Haunted fun and children’s activities start at 7:30pm, with the band performing from 8:00pm - midnight. To purchase tickets call (510) 521-8448 x 282. Tickets are $20 for adults ($25 at the door) and $10 for kids. www.hornetevents.com.
