Red, white and blue flooded the streets of Alameda at this year's Alameda Mayor’s 4th of July Parade.

The parade is one of the largest and longest Independence Day parades in the nation, according to the parade committee.

With more than 170 floats and 2,500 participants who travel a three and a half mile route, this year's parade has become one of the biggest.

"Really gets better every year. The military helicopter flyover was really cool too," one reader posted on Alameda Patch's Facebook page.
