What's Open, What's Closed on Veterans Day

Here's a look at at what will be open and closed on Veterans Day, Monday, Nov. 11, 2013.

Open:

Some businesses, especially retail and restaurants.

Closed:

City, county, state and federal government offices; Alameda public schools and school district offices; Alameda County Superior Court; banks.

It's a holiday for the United States Postal Service so there will be no mail service on Monday. Since this is a federal holiday, federal agencies that haven't already been closed by the government shutdown will be closed.

For veterans:

Applebee's restaurant at South Shore Center will offer free signature entrees to veterans and active military personnel.

The USS Hornet Museum at Alameda Point will offer free admission Nov. 11-17 to veterans with military ID.
