Church Makes Welcome Baskets For Families In Need

Trinity Lutheran Church will be collecting supplies Feb. 12, 19 and 26 to put in welcome baskets for Alameda Point Collaborative families.

 

has embarked on a service project to assemble welcome baskets for new residents at .

Alameda Point Collaborative (APC) is a supportive housing community serving formerly homeless individuals and famlies. It has 200 units of housing and operates a one-acre farm, a community garden, two playgrounds and a commercial kitchen in addition to providing residents with other services.

There are 500 residents, including 300 children, being served by the Alameda Point Collaborative.

Supplies being collected by the church for APC include household cleaning supplies, laundry soap, liquid dishwashing soap, kitchen and bathroom cleaners, all purpose cleaners, sponges, swiffers, toiletries, towels (both kitchen and bath), kitchen items, dish racks, and utensils (new or like-new). Laundry soap is particularly needed.

Donation checks are also being accepted. You should write "APC-Welcome Basket" in the notation line of your check and make it payable to Trinity Lutheran Church. The church address is 1323 Central Ave., Alameda, CA 94501.

Doug Biggs, the Executive Director at APC will join the congregation at its 10:30 a.m. service on Feb. 12 to share the organization's successes and challenges.
