Alameda Ruminations
Continued unemployment for nearly two years with limited funds, Alameda has been my oasis of calm and soothing balm that has been rich in experiences and treasures as I traverse my island home.

...when you are instituted as a regular patron at one of the local restaurants, bars, cafes, shops, etc., 'everyone knows your name' each time you visit.
...East Bay Regional Parks rock with care and consideration of Crown Memorial State Park and the Elsie Roemer Bird Sanctuary.
...The City of Alameda maintains with grace and attention to detail the city parks and tennis courts frequented by residents.
...there are a myriad of great places to eat, shop, and drink coffee and tea! A special shout out to the locally owned establishments.
...residents may live on an island but they do not ascribe to the notion that "no man (person) is an island" but instead embrace the cultural plurality that exists in the Bay Area. All are welcome on this island.
...nine times out of ten if you smile and say hello to a stranger, you will receive the same in return.
...the architecture is as varied as its inhabitants. Every day renovations are under way expressing the individuality of the homeowner and creating beautiful restorations in the residences and commercial buildings.
