Alameda Ruminations (Part 2)

Alameda is a place where...

...botanical wonders delight the senses. Every residential block, commercial area (okay, maybe not where they cut down all of those trees on Park Street, but in many other locations) there is the beauty of flowers, plants, and of course, who can forget the palm trees!

...merchants take the time to dress their storefront windows with interesting displays to entice the sidewalk pedestrian to come inside and see more. Thank goodness, there has been success in keeping the chain stores from invading the main streets. Remember when a large bookstore wanted to take over the Alameda Theatre?  Imagine what would have happened had they been successful. Now, we have a great old-time theatre. Everything old is new again!

...you can find pockets of activities at night but you also find serenity and peace to lull you to fitful rest and early morning sunrises.

...escape across the country or international destination occurs by boarding a plane at Oakland International Airport located five minutes from the edge of the island.

...some of the most beautiful canopies are made by nature on the tree-lined streets that also provide a mosaic of leafy patterns in the street that are a work of art naturally.

...enough cannot be said about the locally owned restaurants that keep us fed and caffeinated and provide libations and tea infusions.

...Peet's and Starbucks can exist side-by-by side and share a pretty fair ratio. There may be more Starbucks in Alameda but Peet's has their headquarters located here.
