Alameda Death Notices: William 'Chris' Cummins, Diana Gikas Dorough, Richard 'Rick' Benson

Some of the people with ties to Alameda who passed away recently.

William Fuller "Chris" Cummins, 63, a lifelong resident of Alameda, died Oct. 8 after a brief battle with cancer. A retired teamster, he loved barbecues, gardening and politically incorrect jokes, and was often seen strolling down Park Street. Services were held Oct. 12.

Diana Gikas Dorough
of Alameda died Oct. 9 at the age of 51. Raised mainly in Manteca, CA, she opened her own CPA firm in Alameda in 1995. Donations to Friends of the Alameda Animal Shelter (FAAS) are preferred.

Richard (Rick) Benson
, 71, of Pleasanton, a long-time employee at Good Chevrolet in Alameda, died  Oct. 15 after a long illness. He retired in 1999 but continued his enthusiasm for cars and his hobby of rebuilding engines. Services are private.
