Alameda Death Notices

Some of the people with ties to Alameda who passed away recently.

Ken Lee (Allen K. Lee Jr.), an active volunteer with the Alameda Girls Softball Association (AGSA) for 15 years, died Sept. 14 while waiting for a liver transplant. He was 58. He was a planner and project manager for AT&T. A private celebration of his life is planned for Oct. 20. His family asks that you consider donations to the AGSA in his name.

Shirley Jeffs Hutchison, a 1942 graduate of Alameda High School, passed away Aug. 20 at the age of 89. She attended UC Berkeley until going to work at the Alameda Naval Air Station during World War II. She and her husband, Walter "Hutch" Hutchison, lived in various parts of the East Bay after their marriage, and she returned to Alameda in 2006. 

John (Jack) Kavanaugh passed away Sept. 30 at the age of 65. He was a graduate of St. Joseph High School in Alameda, where he towered above his classmates at a height of 6'7". A resident of Concord, he had a long career in computer programming.
