Obituary: Joseph Corica, Longtime Alameda Resident

Joseph was born in Alameda and lived his entire life there. He was an employee of various Bay Area libraries.

Joseph Corica, 45, of Alameda passed away early June 6, 2013 after a long battle with esophageal cancer. His family and friends were with him as he lost this fight.


Joseph was born January 9, 1968 in Alameda and lived his entire life there. He attended Edison Elementary School, Lincoln Middle School, and Alameda High School.

Joseph was a long-time employee of various Bay Area libraries, and most recently worked in the library at Cal State East Bay from which he retired. He loved classic cars, trains, and was an avid fisherman.

Joseph is survived by his loving wife, Guinevere Tecson-Corica of Alameda and his mother, Diana Vise Corica of Ozark, Mo. He also leaves behind a maternal grandmother Maxine Vise Stewart of Sparta, Mo., as-well-as, numerous maternal aunts and uncles. And he is survived by his father and mother in-law, Danne and Jenny Tecson; his brother and sister in-law, Daniel and Charmina Tecson; and his niece and nephew, Victoria and Levi Tecson.

His memorial will be held from 9 a.m. – 11 a.m. on June 14 at Neptune Society Columbarium, One Loraine Court, San Francisco, CA.
