Biker on Bay Farm not using Trail

With all the talk about the new trail on Shoreline, it makes me wonder if the city should be putting out money for such a project.  Bayfarm Island has a lovely bike trail that was specifically made for bikers that separates the walkers from the bikers, yet bikers still feel the need to share the road with cars.  Was the bike trail a waste of money? It is a very tight squeeze for cars to share the curvy road down Island drive with bikers.  Just this morning a women was riding on the road with her head phones on. #1 while walking or biking you should always remain alert and be able to hear things around you and #2 there is a designated bike path that should be utilized to increase the safety of the bicyclist.
