Fitness Friday: Begin in the Begin

Keeping air in the tires.

Last Friday  to try a different approach to exercise each week. Many readers offered their most excellent suggestions — thank you so much. My to-do list is long!

Sunday night, my neighbor texted, inviting me to try one of the two classes she planned on attending Monday down at .

I confess I was intimidated by the names: Body Pump and Body Attack.

"We can either do Body Pump from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. or Body Attack from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. Or both. I will probably do both," she wrote.

She's in good shape. She runs half-marathons and whatnot.

"What is the difference between Body Attack and Body Pump?" I wrote back, nervous. 

Turns out Attack is cardio and Pump is weights. In any case, scheduling did not permit — this whole business of minding Alameda Patch and all — and so I did not go with her. But stay tuned. I would like to try one or both of these classes.

Many of your suggestions were easy ones, requiring no user fee or special clothing or new nomenclature.

So one afternoon I took the kids for a bike ride along the San Francisco Bay — that's got some poetry to it, huh?

We crossed from the main Island on the Bay Farm Bridge, which I think is known by many as "the blue bridge," and then pedaled across the wooden bridge (we call it the "bumpy bridge"), by the backside of 's pool, and then along the water to the .
