The Alameda Free Library’s 2012 Summer Reading Program was a huge success. With over 2,700 kids, teens, and adults participating in the Dream Big – Read, Own the Night, and Between the Covers programs, this year’s number of participants exceeded all expectations.
We couldn’t have had this level of success without the help of our amazing sponsors. Many thanks for the generosity of the Friends of the Alameda Free Library. We wouldn’t have special programming at the library at all without their help and financial support.
Thanks also to local Alameda businesses and organizations that made some of our prizes possible: Tucker’s Super-Creamed Ice Cream, Papa Murphy’s Pizza and Island City Cafe, Alameda Coffee and Tea Traders, Alameda Theater & Cineplex, Aria International Market and Bakery, Bead Inspirations, Domenico’s Italian Deli, Fireside Lounge, Island Taqueria, Jamba Juice, Little Old Fashioned Candie & Soda Pop Shop, Pacific Pinball Museum, Red Wagon Collectables, and the USS Hornet Museum.
We’d also like to thank the Alameda Recreation and Park Department, the Museum of Children’s Art, and the San Francisco Ferry. By providing prizes for our Summer Reading Programs, all of these businesses and organizations provide the incentive many kids need to keep reading, learning, and growing all summer long and they help remind teens and adults that reading is fun.
