AHS Lockdown Incident a 'Prank,' Battery on Buena Vista, Stolen Bikes, Cell Phones and Pool Cue

Incidents highlighted here were recorded in the Alameda Police Department log from March 11 to March 13. Information was supplied by the police and does not indicate any convictions.

Monday, March 11

  • 2 a.m. A 31-year-old man with an outstanding local felony warrant was transported from Solano County to the Glenn Dyer Detention Facilty in Oakland.
  • 9:10 a.m. Auto parts from a vehicle reported stolen in Oakland were recovered on Pan Am Way.
  • 9:16 a.m. Two bicycles were reported stolen from an unlocked garage in the 3000 block of El Paseo.
  • 12:15 p.m. A thief broke into a locked vehicle in the 1300 block of Regent Street and stole a GPS device and a CD case.
  • 2:04 p.m. A male threatened to harm himself with a knife at Alameda High School. The suspect later stated it was a prank and he was not located at the school.   • 6:12 p.m. Someone stole a woman's cell phone while she was having her nails done on Central Avenue.
  • 9:51 p.m. Someone stole a bicycle from South Shore Center.

Tuesday, March 12

  • 12:13 a.m. A 27-year-old man was taken into custody on a no-bail warrant after he was stopped by police for riding a bicycle at night without a rear reflector.
  • 7:12 a.m. A pool cue and its case were stolen from an unlocked vehicle in the 2300 block of San Antonio Avenue. A 23-year-old man was seen walking away from the scene with the stolen items and was placed under arrest, police said.
  • 10:17 a.m. A vehicle reproted stolen in Hayward was recovered in the 3200 block of Bayo Vista.
  • 1:27 p.m. Somone painted red and yellow graffiti on a sidewalk near the intersection of Whitehall Place and Willow Street.
  • 4:23 p.m. A thief stole a woman's cell phone while she was shopping in the 1400 block of Park Street.
  • 5:29 p.m. A burglar tried to pry open a door lock on a vehicle parked at South Shore Center, then broke the driver's side window and entered the vehicle, but nothing was reported stolen.

Three instances of identity theft were also reported to the Alameda Police Department on March 12.

Wednesday, March 13

  • 8:30 a.m. A 34-year-old man who was contacted during an investigation of possible auto theft in progress was arrested on suspicion of possessing burglary tools, a drug pipe and marijuana.
  • 10:28 a.m. A 2013 registration sticker was stolen from the rear license plate of a vehicle parked near the corner of Everett Street and Central Avenue.
  • 3:38 p.m. A person ws arrested on suspicion of battery after a victim was pushed, punched and kicked in the head on Buena Vista Avenue. The victim was able to identity the attacked, police said.
