Alameda Boy Shot and Killed in Oakland

Gabriel Martinez Jr., 5, was near his family's taco truck in the 5400 block of International Boulevard.

A five-year-old boy killed in Oakland on Dec. 30 was an Alameda resident.

Gabriel Martinez Jr. was outside his family's taco truck with his father when he was shot at 8:38 p.m. Friday, according to the Oakland Tribune.

He died at Oakland's Children's Hospital less than a half hour later

Police told the San Jose Mercury News that they have no motive for the shooting and do not think that the boy was the target. 

A $25,000 reward has been offered for information leading to an arrest in the shooting, according to SF Fist

Martinez was the third child killed by gunfire in Oakland in 2011. In August, three-year-old Carlos Nava was killed and in December a one-year-old, Hiram Lawrence, was shot.
