Authorities have announced that an Alameda man who teaches third grade at Alvarado Elementary School faces numerous child molestation charges had a "cutest (sic) girl list," according to The Fremont Argus.

Michael Howey, 47, was arrested May 1 and faces numerous charges related to molestation, including giving girl students "long hugs," and police were told by the victims that Howey would "rub their bellies and kiss them on the mouth," The Fremont Argus reports.

The Fremont newspaper also reported that the teacher would isolate female students by making extracurricular activities catered to girls available, such as arts and crafts.

Some of the nine victims told police that the teacher's behavior was "disgusting and uncomfortable," The Argus reports.

Howey has been arraigned on 23 counts of annoying and molesting a child and 17 counts of lewd and lascivious acts with a child under 14, according to The Argus.

He is being held at Santa Rita Jail on a $750,000 bail.
