Woman, stabbed in the face while sleeping with her young daughter, had restraining order against the suspect.

Bay City News — A man was arrested in Alameda early Monday morning on suspicion of stabbing his ex-girlfriend in the face while she was sleeping with their 20-month-old daughter beside her, a police lieutenant said Tuesday.

Fred Jackson, 46, was arrested after the stabbing was reported at 12:02 a.m. Monday at a home on Orion Court, Alameda police Lt. Sean Lynch said.

Officers responded and found the 26-year-old woman, Jackson's former girlfriend, suffering from a 1-inch vertical cut to her face. She was taken to a local hospital, Lynch said. The infant was unharmed, he said.
