Alameda Man Arrested in Walnut Creek Mail Theft Case

Police say the man and a female companion had mail stolen from 20 homes in their car when they were arrested on Sunday.

Two people were arrested Sunday morning in Walnut Creek with a large quantity of stolen mail in their car, police report.

The two arrested were a 44-year-old man from Alameda and a 20-year-old woman from San Leandro.

Police said the incident began at 7:34 a.m. when a resident alerted officers to a car alarm that had been activated near Camino Verde and Geary Road.

When officers arrived, the resident pointed out a suspicious vehicle that had been circling the area.

Officers said they stopped the car and found stolen mail from 20 homes inside as well as property from two cars burglarized in the neighborhood.

The suspects, David Anderson, 44, of Alameda and Jaime Davies, 20, of San Leandro, were arrested and booked into the Martinez Detention Facility for possession of stolen property and burglary tools, criminal conspiracy and violation of probation.
