Hit-and-Runs, Robbery and More Thefts from Vehicles

Incidents highlighted here were recorded in the Alameda Police Department log from Jan. 31 to Feb. 4. Information was supplied by the police and does not indicate any convictions.

Monday, Feb. 4

  • 8:45 p.m.: A hit-and-run midemeanor was reported on the 400 block of Buena Vista Avenue. Items submitted into evidence regarding the collision investigation.
  • 9:53 a.m.: Grand theft was reported on the 2200 block of Celement Avenue. The suspect stole a pulley from a construction site.
  • 12:56 p.m.: A vehicle burglary was reported on the 500 block of Buena Vista Avenue. A suspect broke the victim's car window, removed laptop computer and fled scene.
  • 3:54 p.m.: Auto theft was reported on the 1400 block of Broadway. 
  • 5:13 p.m.: Hit-and-run DUI was reported on the corner of 6th Street and Santa Clara Avenue. Debris collected at the scene of the collision was booked into APD evidence. A 53-year-old man was arrested for drunk driving.
  • 10:34 p.m.: A 62-year-old man was arrested for possession of stolen property. He was arrested on the 3100 block of Marina Drive. He was contacted during a consensual encounter and admitted to possessing a "crack pipe." A record's check revealed he had an outstanding warrant for theft. A search of him yielded five stolen 2014 vehicle registration tabs, a spring loaded knife, and a suspected narcotic paraphernalia.

Sunday, Feb. 3

  • 12:14 a.m.: A vehicle burglary was reported on the 1300 block of Marina Village Parkway. A suspect broke a window of the victim's vehicle and attempted to take property, but fled without any loss.
  • 7:17 a.m.: Auto theft was reported on the 2800 block of Marina Drive. 
  • 7:08 p.m.: Assault with a weapon was reported on the 2400 block of Santa Clara Avenue. As suspect's vehicle struck a victim as he fled a restaurant without paying his bill.

Saturday, Feb. 2

  • 7:17 a.m.: A vehicle burglary was reported on the 1900 block of Otis Drive. A suspect gained entry into victim's vehicle by unknown means, rummaged through belongings and fled the area with no loss.
  • 2 p.m.: A residential burglary was reported on the 900 block of Regent Street. The residential front door has a mail slot built into the door. A suspect unsuccessfully attempted to gain entry into victim's residence by unlocking the door via the mail slot opening.

Friday, Feb. 1

  • 8:56 a.m.: A residential burglary was reported on the 1100 block of Fontana Drive. The suspect entered the victim's residence through an unlocked rear door and stole two rings.
  • 10:42 a.m.: A robbery was reported on the 1400 block of Everett Street. Five suspects exited a vehicle, punched a victim in his face causing him to fall to the ground, removed his iPhone and iPod from his pocket and fled.
  • 10:57 a.m.: Auto theft was reported on the 1600 block of Benton Street.
  • 12:32 p.m.: Identity theft was reported on the 400 block of Cola Ballena. A suspect opened up credit cards in a victim's name without his knowledge or permission.
  • 3:56 p.m.: A vehicle burglary was reported on the corner of Shell Gate Road and Shoreline Drive. A suspect attempted to break into a victim's vehicle by disabling the passenger side door lock cylinder. The victim disrupted the attempt by yelling at the suspect from a distance.
  • 7:10 p.m.: Auto theft was reported on the 2500 block of Webb Avenue.
  • 8:16 p.m.: Auto theft was reported on the 1900 block of Pacific Avenue.

Thursday, Jan. 31

  • 7:17 a.m.: A vehicle burglary was reported on the 300 block of Robery Louis Stevens Avenue. A suspect broke a vehicle's driver window, took loss and fled the scene.
  • 7:29 a.m.: A commercial burglary was reported on the 2600 block of Barbers Point Road. A suspect cut pad lock bracket and forced open two doors to victim's property. Suspect then entered and removed copper piping from four different bathrooms. The suspect fled the area with the loss.
  • 8:10 a.m.: A vehicle burglary was reported on the 700 block of Eagle Avenue.
  • 8:40 a.m.: A vehicle burglary was reported on the 700 block of Pacific Avenue. A suspect broke the vehicle's passenger side window by unknown means, took loss and fled the scene.
  • 12:28 p.m.: Identity theft was reported on the 400 block of Willow Street. A suspect took personal/financial information and used it to take money from victim's bank account
  • 3:02 p.m.: Auto theft was reported on the 500 block of Haight Avenue.
  • 3:08 p.m.: A residential burglary was reported on the 1800 block of Union Street. A suspect broke into the residence by breaking glass panel in side door. Suspect(s) then stole numerous items inside and fled with loss.
  • 5:11 p.m.: A vehicle burglary was reported on the 400 block of Park Street. A suspect entered the work truck by prying its rear sliding window. The suspect selected loss and fled.
  • 4:35 p.m.: Burglary was reported on the 1900 block of Sherman Street. A suspect entered a locked and unattended storage unit, took loss and fled the scene.
