Members of the will run a leg of the Special Olympics Law Enforcement Torch Run on Tuesday, June 19, according to an APD announcement.
The run will start at 7 a.m. in front of the police department, 1555 Oak St., and head west on Lincoln Ave, south onto Grand Avenue, east on Encinal Avenue and north on Park Street. The torch will be carried into Oakland and handed off to the Alameda District Attorney’s Office.
The public is invited to cheer on the APD runners as they make their way through Alameda.
In California the Law Enforcement Torch Run involves more than 3,000 police officers who carry the Special Olympics Torch more than 500 miles and through more than 150 communities. Events such as Tip-A-Cop also help raise funds and awareness for the Special Olympics.
