Arson, Vehicle Burglaries and a Narcotics Arrest Which Leads to Discovery of Stolen Car

Incidents highlighted here were recorded in the Alameda Police Department log from March 20 to March 24. Information was supplied by the police and does not indicate any convictions.

Wednesday, May 20

  • 5:35 a.m.: A garage burglary was reported on the 500 block of Willow Street. An unknown suspect entered a victim's open attached garage and took the victim's bicycle and backpack.
  • 7:39 a.m.: An auto theft was reported on the 600 block of Pacific Avenue.
  • 12:14 p.m.: A vehicle burglary was reported on the 400 block of Park Street. An unknown suspect smashed a passenger side window of the victims car and took a sweater.

Thursday, May 21

  • 9:29 a.m.: Identity theft was reported on the 700 block of Atlantic Avenue. a suspect used a victim's name and checking account to purchase goods without her permission.

  • 8:28 a.m.: A vehicle burglary was reported on the 2000 block of San Antonio Avenue. An unknown suspect gained entry into victim's locked vehicle by unknown means, took loss and fled.
  • 11:37 a.m.: Arson was reported on Encinal Avenue. An unknown suspect set a piece of paper on fire in a building hallway and fled the scene.
  • 1:31 p.m.: A residential burglary was reported on the 1600 block of Fernside Boulevard. A suspect forced entry through a victim's window, took loss, and fled.
  • 1:55 p.m.: A 45-year-old woman was arrested for narcotics on the corner of Fernside Boulevard and Fairview Avenue. She was contacted in the driver seat of listed vehicle during a report of a suspicious circumstance. She was found to be in possession of Methamphetamine. The vehicle also displayed a license plate not issued to the vehicle, which later was found to be stolen.
  • 5:42 p.m.: Bad checks were reported onthe 2200 block of Otis Drive. A suspect attempted to cash a fraudulent check at a business.
  • 5:42 p.m.: Burglary was reported on the 1900 block of Sherman Street. An unknow suspect entered an unlocked storage container and fled with loss.
  • 8:04 p.m.: Petty theft shoplifting was reported on the 1500 block of Park Street. Two suspects took loss from a business without attempting to pay.

Saturday, May 23

  • 12 p.m.: Petty theft shoplifting was reported on the 1500 block of Park Street. A suspect entered the business and selected merchandise. The suspect used a distraction technique to conceal merchandise and feld with loss.
  • 11:03 a.m.: Identity theft was reported on the 2800 block of Brown Street. A victim's identity was obtained by fraudulent means and charges made against her existing credit card account.

Sunday, May 24

  • 12:18 p.m.: A burglary vehicle was reported on the 900 block of Independence Drive. A suspect entered a victim's locked vehicle by unknown means, but did not take any loss.
