Cars With GPS are Burglary Target, Suspect Steals Business' Product Samples, and Mail Thieves

Incidents highlighted here were recorded in the Alameda Police Department log from Feb. 19 to Feb. 21. Information was supplied by the police and does not indicate any convictions.

Tuesday, Feb. 19

  • 2:14 p.m.: A residential burglary was reported on the 1000 block of Jost Lane. A suspect opened a victim's garage without permission, took the loss and fled.
  • 3:55 p.m.: Two suspects took mail from a victim's mailbox and another victim's front porch and fled. The incident was reported on the 1100 block of Rosewood Way. Police released a security camera photo of one of the suspects.
  • 5:48 p.m.: A commercial burglary was reported on the 800 block of Marina Village Parkway. A 45-year-old man was arrested. He put unpaid items into store bags he brought with him and exited the business without paying for the items.

Wednesday, Feb. 20

  • 6:02 a.m.: A burglary vehicle was reportedon the 1300 block of 3rd Street. A suspect smashed the window of the vehicle and stole an iPod and GPS.
  • 7:22 a.m.: A burglary vehicle was reported on the 1300 block of 3rd Street. A suspect smashed the window of a vehicle and stole a GPS device and debit card.
  • 8:13 a.m.: A burglary vehicle was reported on the 300 block of Tideway Drive. A suspect broke the windows of a vehicle and fled with the loss.
  • 8:56 a.m.: Grand theft was reported on the 2600 block of Harbor Bay Parkway. A suspect stole product samples from a business.
  • 1:09 p.m.: A commercial burglary was reported on the 2200 block of Harbor Bay Parkway. A suspect smashed a window and unsuccessfully pried the front door at a business office.
  • 4:04 p.m.: Auto theft was reported on the 900 block of Independence Drive.
