Coroner Identifies Woman Struck by Minivan in Alameda

Carol Weston, 64, of Alameda was killed on Wednesday morning after she was hit while crossing the street.

A 64-year-old woman who was fatally struck by a minivan while crossing a street in Alameda early Wednesday morning has been identified.

Carol Weston of Alameda was pronounced dead at the scene after she was struck while crossing in the 2200 block of Otis Drive, according to the Alameda County coroner's bureau.

Weston was crossing from the north curb of Otis Drive toward the South Shore shopping center in an area without a crosswalk when a minivan hit her at 4:52 a.m., Alameda police Lt. Jill Ottaviano said.

Two men were in the minivan, which struck Weston in the far right eastbound lane of traffic.

The vehicle stopped after the collision and the men cooperated with police, Ottaviano said.
