Crash Near Airport Sends Man to Hospital

A speeding car nearly hit several large containers of jet fuel, police say.

Bay City News—A driver was arrested for drunken driving after a car crash near the Oakland International Airport this morning (Saturday) that nearly hit several large containers of jet fuel and sent his brother to the hospital with serious injuries, police said.

Police and sheriff's deputies responded to the collision on Doolittle Drive near Swan Way at 2:37 a.m.

The car had been speeding down Doolittle Way and left the road, going through a fence and hitting a wall blocking traffic from several large containers of jet fuel, a sheriff's sergeant said.

There were two occupants of the vehicle, two brothers, Oakland police said. The passenger was transported to a hospital with serious injuries that included a severed arm, according to Oakland police.

The driver was arrested on suspicion of driving while intoxicated (DUI).
