Fire Officials Aid Coast Guard in Reported Boat Search

No boats were found after officials looked around the area from Alameda Point and San Leandro Bay to the Bay Farm Bridge. The search was called off after an hour.

Alameda Fire officials assisted the US Coast Guard in a water search for a boat that was reportedly taking on water this afternoon.

At 1:10 p.m., Alameda Fire Department was notified by the U.S. Coast Guard that a boat was taking on water in the Oakland estuary, according to Alameda Fire Capt. Jim Colburn.

AFD responded with units on land and water along with the Oakland Fire Department and the U.S. Coast Guard.

For about an hour, they searched the area from Alameda Point and San Leandro Bay to the Bay Farm Bridge, according to Colburn.

After no boats could be found, the search was called off at 2:07 p.m., he said.
