High Winds Bring Down Trees Across Alameda

At least one home was damaged as branches and entire trees fell.

High winds brought down branches and even entire trees in more than half a dozen spots in Alameda Sunday night and early Monday morning, an Alameda Police Department spokesperson said Monday.

Lt. Jill Ottoviano said police received at least seven or eight calls from local residents about tree damage.

Incidents included damage to a a Sherman Street home and an entire tree uprooted in the 1400 block of High Street, Ottaviano said.

The National Weather Service reported that wind gusts reached 50 miles per hour Sunday night in some Bay Area locations, including Oakland International Airport.
