Kidnapping, Concealing a Loaded Firearm and Attempted Stabbing

Incidents highlighted here were recorded in the Alameda Police Department log from April 11 to 14. Information was supplied by the police and does not indicate any convictions.

Sunday, April 14

  • 1:19 a.m.: A residential burglary was reported on the 2200 block of Glenview Street. An unknown suspect entered a victim's residence through the rear window and fled with the loss.
  • 12:42 p.m.: A vehicle burglary was reported on the 2500 block of Blanding Avenue. A suspect broke into a vehicle by breaking a window and took loss.

Saturday, April 13

  • 1:46 a.m.: A 31-year-old man was arrested for carrying a concealed weapon. He was contacted during an investigation of a battery. During a consent search of his vehicle, a loaded handgun was found concealed under the driver's seat of the vehicle. He was placed under arrest for concealing a loaded firearm in a vehicle and possessing a loaded firearm in a vehicle while in a public place.
  • 3:07 p.m.: Assault with a weapon was reported on Brush Street. During an argument over a cell phone, a suspect grabbed two knives and attempted to stab a victim several times.
  • 6:49 p.m.: A 35-year-old woman was cited for shoplifting on the 2200 block of South Shore Center. She entered a business and selected merchandise. She concealed the merchandise and walked out of the business without paying. She was detained by store security.

Friday, April 12

  • 3:50 p.m.: Bad checks were reported on the 200 block of Inverness Court. An unknown suspect created a fake check using a victim's personal information and made a payment to a business.
  • 5:04 p.m.: A vehicle burglary was reported on the 200 block of Packet Landing Road. An unknown suspect took a victim's vehicle key from her gym bag. Suspect entered car and took victim's wallet.
  • 7:39 p.m.: Brandishing a weapon was reported on Taylor Avenue. A suspect brandished a pocket knife during an altercation with victims.
  • 11:16 p.m.: A hit-and-run misdemeanor was reported on the corner of Challenger Drive and Marina Village Parkway. An unknown suspect caused damage to a city-owned light pole and fled the scene in a suspect vehicle. The vehicle was located and impounded. Suspect remains at large.

Thursday, April 11

  • 7 a.m.: Auto theft was reported on the 1700 block of Lafayette Street. 
  • 9:33 a.m.: An embezzled vehicle was reported on the 1700 block of Buena Vista Avenue. A suspect rented a vehicle from a business and signed a contract stating he will return it. The suspect does not return the vehicle.
  • 11:24 a.m.: Auto theft was reported on the 1200 block of Lincoln Avenue.
  • 11:50 a.m.: A burglary vehicle was reported on the 2100 block of South Shore Center. A suspect broke a victim's left rear vehicle window with a knife in an attempt to enter the vehicle. The victim confronts the suspect, who leaves and gets into a vehicle, driven by another suspect. Both suspects drive away towards Otis Drive and escape.
  • 6:25 p.m.: A garage burglary was reported on the 2900 block of Johnson Avenue. A suspect entered an unlocked, detached garage, took items and fled in an unknown direction.
  • 7:15 p.m.: A kidnapping was reported on Westline Drive. Suspects brandish a knife and gun, forced a victim into his own vehicle. Suspects forced the victim to drive to three different Chase bank locations and made him withdraw $15,000. Suspects took the loss and left the victim in Oakland.
