Bay City News Service -  Alameda police on Wednesday arrested a man suspected of robbing and sexually assaulting a woman last week after following her off an AC Transit bus, a police lieutenant said Thursday.

The woman was attacked at gunpoint last Friday at about 12:45 p.m. in the stairwell of her apartment building in the 500 block of Buena Vista Avenue, Lt. Sean Lynch said.

Alameda police identified a possible suspect within 24 hours of the assault and broadcast his name and description to several nearby law enforcement agencies, Lynch said.
