Multiple Home Burglaries, Auto Thefts and Phone Scammer

Incidents highlighted here were recorded in the Alameda Police Department log from April 15 to 17. Information was supplied by the police and does not indicate any convictions.

Wednesday, April 17

  • 7:16 a.m.: Auto theft was reported on the 700 block of Pacific Avenue.
  • 10:17 a.m.: Auto theft was reported on the 1600 block of Everett Street.
  • 3:17 p.m.: Residential burglary was reported on Alameda Avenue. A suspect was arrested. He entered his unoccupied neighbor's apartment through the unlocked rear door and stole victim's purse. When confronted, he returned the purse to victim. Upon search, he was found in possession of a stolen cell phone which was taken during an unrelated burglary.
  • 3:17 p.m.: A residential burglary was reported on the 2100 block of Encinal Avenue. A suspect entered the rear door of a victim's residence, took a cell phone, and fled the area. The susepct was later arrested during a separate burglary investigation.
  • 8:38 p.m.: A residential burglary was reported ont he 100 block of Seabridge Court. A suspect kicked the victim's front door and made entry into their residence while victim was on vacation. Suspect ransacked the victim's bedroom and scattered the jewelry boxes on the floor. Suspect fled the residence with unknown items.

Tuesday, April 16

  • 1:09 p.m.: Identity theft was reported on the 400 block of Santa Clara Avenue. A suspect used a victim's credit card number to make purchases from iTunes.
  • 4:12 p.m.: A burglary was reported on the 1800 block of Webster Street. Unknown suspects gained access into victim's storage unit by unknown means and stole numerous items from inside.
  • 8:33 p.m.: A residential burglary was reported on the 1200 block of Rosewood Way. An unknown suspect smashed a rear sliding glass door using a large cinder block to gain entry into victim's residence. Once inside the residence, the suspects stole a jewelry box from the master bedroom.
  • 9:01 p.m.: Auto theft was reported on the 1800 block of Paru Street.

Monday, April 15

  • 8:09 a.m.: Auto theft was reported on the 1500 block of Verdi Street.
  • 9:35 a.m.: Grand theft was reported on the 100 block of West Tower Avenue. A suspect stole a victim's flatbed trailer.
  • 11:18 a.m.: A burglary was reported at the 1900 block of 3rd Street. A suspect took computer equipment without permission and fled scene with loss.
  • 12:23 p.m.: Fraud was reported on the 2300 block of Santa Clara Avenue. A suspect contacted a victim via telephone and claimed to be her grandson. Suspect tells victim he had been involved in a traffic collision and needed money wired to him. Victim sent money to suspect then realized she had been the victim of a scam.
  • 6:27 p.m.: Identity theft was reported on the 1200 block of Paru Street. A suspect filed a victim's taxesusing her personal information.
