Nob Hill Foods Robbery, Carrying a Switchblade Knife and Hit-and-Run Misdemeanors

Incidents highlighted here were recorded in the Alameda Police Department log from April 18 to 21. Information was supplied by the police and does not indicate any convictions.

Thursday, April 18

  • 1:54 a.m.: A residential burglary was reported on the 2700 block of Otis Drive. A suspect kicked a victim's front door open, entered the residence and fled with the loss.
  • 8 a.m.: Auto theft was reported on the 1200 block of Eagle Avenue. 
  • 1:14 p.m.: A commercial burglary was reported on the 2200 block of South Shore Center. A 30 year old woman was arrested. She entered a business with a reusable bag he had lined with aluminum foil in an attempt to take items without being detected. She was detained by loss prevention agents as he exited with the stolen items. She exhibited objective signs of being under the influence of stimulants and opiates.

Friday, April 19

  • 9:48 a.m.: A commercial burglary was reported on the 800 block of Marina Village Parkway. An unknown suspect cut a padlock and gained entry to recycling storage container. The suspect pried open the safe, stole money and fled the area.
  • 6:29 p.m.: Shoplifting was reported on the 2200 block of South Shore Center. A 49-year-old man was arrested. He entered the business, took merchandise and left without paying. He was contacted by a store rep and placed under citizen's arrest. He was later found to be on active probation. A switchblade knife was found inside of his bag during a search incident to arrest.

Saturday, April 20

  • 11:37 a.m.: A vehicle burglary was reported on the 1700 block of Harbor Bay Parkway.
  • 4:18 p.m.: A residential burglary was reported on the 100 block of Crolls Garden Court.
  • 9:42 p.m.: A 33-year-old man and woman were arrested on 1000 Santa Clara Avenue were arrested for carrying a switchblade. The two were contacted during a disturbance call. The woman was found to be in possession of a switch blade knife, in violation of his parole terms. The man was found to be too intoxicated to care for herself in public. They were booked.
  • 10:31 p.m.: A commercial robbery was reported on the 2500 block of Blanding Avenue. A suspect took money from an open cash register at Nob Hill Foods. The suspect pushed an employee who tried to stop him from taking the money. The suspect then fled the store with the loss.

Sunday, April 21

  • 7 a.m.: A hit-and-run misdemeanor was reported on the 2700 block of Otis Drive. Items submitted into evidence regarding the hit and run collision investigation.
  • 7:01 p.m.: A hit-and run misdemeanor was reported on the corner of Park Street and San Antonio Avenue. Items were submitted into evidence regarding the hit and run investigation.
