Police Arrest Suspect in Supermarket Robbery

What began as shoplifting became robbery when the thieves assaulted the manager of the Lucky Supermarket at Marina Village.

Alameda police officers today arrested a suspect in a July 14 shoplifting incident at the Marina Village Lucky Supermarket that turned into a robbery when the thieves shoved a shopping cart into the store manager and twisted her wrist, according to an Alameda Police department bulletin.

On July 14, between 9 and 9:09 p.m., two adult males loaded a shopping cart with merchandise inside the supermarket at 815 Marina Village Parkway but made no attempt to pay for any of the merchandise police said.

One of the men pushed the cart into the manager as she was locking the doors for the night, and one man twisted the manager’s wrist to move her out of his path, police said. The thieves drove away with the stolen merchandise.
