Police: Body in Estuary was Apparent Suicide

Oakland police said the victim was a 27-year-old Susanville man.

Bay City News—A preliminary investigation has determined that a Susanville man who was found dead in the Oakland Estuary on Tuesday morning with weights wrapped around him committed suicide, police said Wednesday. The man was identified as 27-year-old Christopher James Lattie.

Oakland police spokeswoman Johnna Watson said police received a report at 6:29 a.m. Tuesday that someone had spotted feet sticking up out of the water a few feet from a dock at 115 Embarcadero. Police and firefighters responded, pulled the body from the water and discovered it had weights attached to it, Watson said.

She said the investigation into Lattie's death is ongoing and anyone with information should contact the Oakland Police Department's major crimes section at (510) 238-3821.
