Learn more about what areas are being targeted in Alameda

Information submitted by Alameda Police Nixle Alerts—

There has been an increase of auto burglaries at certain locations in Alameda, especially in shopping center parking lots.

We have seen a cluster of thefts at the Walgreens parking lot on Webster Street and the Bridgeside Shopping Center of Blanding Avenue.

Do not leave valuables such as purses, briefcases, laptop computers or cell phones in plain sight even if you are only going to be away from your car for a short time.

Make sure you roll up your windows and lock your doors. Most of the recent auto burglaries have been committed by suspects shattering one of the vehicles windows and reaching in and grabbing the loss.

There have been a few instances though, where suspects gained entry into the vehicle via an unlocked door or open window.
