Police Log: Biking While Intoxicated, Burglaries
Also a stolen laptop at Alameda High School and several auto break-ins.
Incidents highlighted here were recorded in the Alameda Police Department log Sept. 30-Oct. 1. Information was supplied by the police and does not indicate any convictions.
MONDAY, SEPT. 30
Warrant arrest — Police said a 30-year-old man riding a bicycle on Park Street at 1:50 a.m. was stopped after committing several Vehicle Code violations. A records check showed an outstanding arrest warrant from another law enforcement agency and the man was taken into custody.
Burglary — Numerous items were stolen in a burglary at Alameda Unified School District headquarters, 2060 Challenger Drive.
Vehicle theft — A motorcycle parked at the Encinal Yacht Club, 1251 Pacific Marina, was reported stolen.
Bicycle DUI — A 42-year-old woman was arrested on suspicion of riding a bicycle while intoxicated after crashing her bike on Lincoln Avenue about 9:20 p.m.
Multiple arrests — A 20-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of possession of marijuana for sale after police responded to a disturbance at Aughinbaugh Way and Sea View Parkway about 10:15 p.m. Police said the man was already on probation for marijuana sales. A search of the man and his vehicle found the suspected marijuana and a large amount of cash, police said. Two other young men were arrested on lesser charges during the same incident.
TUESDAY, OCT. 1
Residential burglary — Someone pried open a rear window of an apartment in the 1800 block of Poggi Street, rummaged through the occupant's belongings and stole some jewelry. The burglary was reported a little after noon.
Rape — In a separate incident, police are investigating a sexual assault that occurred on Poggi Street in September but was reported Oct. 2.
Grand theft — A laptop computer was stolen from a classroom at Alameda High School.
Vehicle burglaries — Thieves smashed windows on three vehicles in late afternoon and early evening incidents at South Shore Center and on Blanding Avenue.
