Police Log: Carjacking, Attempted Robbery, Vehicle Theft

Incidents highlighted here were recorded in the Alameda Police Department log from Aug. 19 to 20. Information was supplied by the police and does not indicate any convictions.

MONDAY. AUG. 19

3:23 a.m. A 28-year-old man was arrested on an outstanding misdemeanor warrant after police received a report of a man sleeping in a car on Clement Avenue . Police said the man was also in possession of burglary tools and under the influence of opiates.

6:57 a.m. Two men were arrested after their vehicle was stopped at a security checkpoint on Coast Guard Island. The driver had never been issued a driver's license, and methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia were found in the vehicle, police said.

8:09 a.m. A bicycle was reported stolen from a carport in the 2200 block of Lincoln Avenue.

9:00 a.m. An Alameda woman was arrested on suspicion of domestic abuse after hitting her partner in face, according to police.

9:04 a.m. Construction tools were reported stolen from a job site trailer on Tidewater Drive.

TUESDAY, AUG. 20

8:24 a.m. An attempted robbery at the California Check Cashing Store, 1602 Webster St., failed when the victim, an employee there to open the business for the day, was unable to open a door leading to the area behind the front counter.

8:47 a.m. A coin box was stolen from a dryer in the unlocked laundry room of a building in the 1100 block of Broadway.

1:18 p.m. A vehicle was reported stolen from the 300 block of Westline Drive.

9:32 p.m. An SUV was stolen at gunpoint from a 73-year-old man who was parking his vehicle in the 900 block of Regent Street. Police were able to locate the SUV in Oakland via an OnStar tracking device, but the two carjackers were not found, according to this article on insidebayarea.com.
