Police Log: Feuding, Spitting and a Wayward Couch

Plus an attack on a restaurant employee and plenty of thefts.

Incidents highlighted here were recorded in the Alameda Police Department log Oct. 3-5. Information was supplied by the police and does not indicate any convictions.

THURSDAY, OCT. 3

Vandalism and feuding — Police arrested a 55-year-old woman on suspicion of vandalism during a disturbance on Shorepoint Court a few minutes before 3 a.m. The woman damaged a vehicle belonging to two people with whom she has an ongoing feud, police said.

Auto and bike thefts — A locked vehicle was stolen from the 700 block of Santa Clara Avenue. In a separate incident, someone took keys from a locker in the women's locker room at the Alameda Athletic Club, 2227 Mariner Square, and used them to steal a vehicle. The same day, an unlocked bicycle was stolen from the 400 block of Grand Street.

Auto recovery — A vehicle that had been stolen in Oakland was found parked in the 1200 block of Versailles Avenue.

Damaged truck — A limb from a city-owned tree fell onto a truck parked in the 600 block of Westline Drive, damaging the vehicle.

Parole violation — About 10 p.m., police saw a man known to be on probation and parole riding a bicycle on the wrong side of the road near Park Street and Blanding Avenue. Officers attempted to stop the man, who fled on his bike but was later detained nearby. Police said the man had burglary tools in his possession.

FRIDAY, OCT. 4

Vehicle theft — A motorcycle was reported stolen from the 1100 block of Otis Drive.

Kicking and spitting — A 36-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of public intoxication when police responded to a mid-morning disturbance at Julie's Coffee & Tea, 1223 Park St. Police said that after the man was taken into custody, he became enraged, kicking and damaging the passenger-side rear window of the patrol vehicle and repeatedly spitting at officers.

Huh? — A pedestrian tripped over a couch while walking on a sidewalk near the corner of Fifth Street and Central Avenue about 7:40 p.m.

Battery — An employee of a Webster Street restaurant was attacked shortly before 11 p.m. when he tried to confront someone who may have damaged a sign in front of the business. Police said the victim was punched in the face several times and suffered a broken nose. Officers were not able to locate the attacker.

SATURDAY, OCT. 5

Auto recovery — A vehicle stolen in Moraga was located in 1600 block of Park Street. Police said the vehicle had two different stolen license plates attached to it.

Fighting with cops — A 23-year-old man contacted during a suspicious person investigation had drug paraphernalia in his possession but destroyed the evidence by stepping on it, police said. The man also fought with officers in an attempt to get away, they said. The suspect had outstanding arrest warrants and was taken into custody in the 100 block of Brush Street about 5:30 a.m.

Vehicle vandalism — Someone broke a window of a vehicle parked in the 900 block of Central Avenue. On Neptune Gardens Avenue, a vandal puunched kicked and pulled on a a vehicle's mirror and door panel.

Thefts from vehicles — In separate incidents, items were stolen from vehicles parked in the 1400 block of Fountain Avenue, the 1800 block of Chapin Street and the 3000 block of Thompson Avenue. A hubcap was stolen on Taylor Avenue and on Park Street, someone filched a rear license plate and replaced it with another plate — a stolen one.

Stolen vehicle — A motorcycle was stolen from the 1800 block of Shoreline Drive.
