Police Log: Handcuffed Woman Kicks Police Officer

Plus battery, burglaries, stolen cars, assault and a loaded revolver concealed in a car.

Incidents highlighted here were recorded in the Alameda Police Department log Nov. 27-30. Information was supplied by the police and does not indicate any convictions.

WEDNESDAY, NOV. 27

Arson — David R. Prado, 45, was arrested on suspicion of arson after he admitted setting fire to an apartment building on Briggs Avenue, according to the police log. See "UPDATE: 1 Person in Custody, 1 Firefighter Hospitalized After Apt. Fire" for details.

Auto thefts — Vehicles were reported stolen from the 1500 block of Stanton Street and the 1800 block of Clinton Avenue.

THURSDAY, NOV. 28

Battery — Several people assaulted one person in a brouhaha near the corner of San Jose Avenue and Park Street at 1:43 a.m. Police said two more people were battered when they attempted to intervene and stop the attack.

Petty thefts — A rear license plate was stolen from a vehicle parked in the 700 block of Central Avenue, and in a separate incident, a purse left unattended in a shopping cart at South Shore Center was stolen.

Auto theft — A vehicle was stolen from the 100 block of Cypress Street.

FRIDAY, NOV. 29

Assault — A 30-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of assaulting two people with a deadly weapon during an early-morning argument in a Taylor Avenue residence.

Auto theft — A vehicle was stolen from the 1700 block of Pearl Street.

DUI arrest — A 63-year-old woman was arrested on suspicion of driving while intoxicated after a collision near the corner of Encinal Avenue and High Street about 6:15 p.m.

SATURDAY, NOV. 30

Battery on a police officer — A 52-year-old woman was handcuffed after she repeatedly tried to get back in her car after a traffic stop on Lincoln Avenue about 12:50 a.m., police said. The woman was driving on a suspended license, they said. While handcuffed, the woman kicked a police officer in the hand, according to the APD report.

Burglaries — A residence in the 900 block of Shoreline Drive, a garage in the 2100 block of Otis Drive and a storage unit in the 2200 block of Clement Avenue were burglarized in separate incidents.

Petty theft — A thief took packages that UPS had delivered to a home in the 400 block of Haight Avenue and rode off on a bicycle with the loot.

Concealed weapon — A juvenile driver stopped for speeding and running a red light was found to be a convicted felon without a valid driver's license, police said. A search of the juvenile's vehicle turned up a loaded, concealed revolver that had been reported as lost by the Tracy Police Department, police said.
 
Vehicle burglaries — In a series of incidents, thieves broke into vehicles in the 400 block of Sheffield Road, the 1400 and 1500 blocks of Park Street and at South Shore Center.
