Police Log: Homeowner Interrupts Burglary, Shoved Down Stairs By Intruder

Off-duty officer shooting of suspected robbers, Moonlight hold-up, body found, and more from July 15 to 19.

Friday, July 19

  • Off-Duty Sheriff's Deputy fatally shoots gunman during attempted robbery. High Street closed between Santa Clara and Liberty Friday morning as police investigated the shooting at Bonfare Market. Story here.  Video here.
Wednesday, July 17
  • Domestic violence. A 23-year-old male was arrested at 2 p.m. on Park Street for suspected domestic violence for pushing the mother of his child and injuring her finger after returning from a child custody hearing. 
  • Fraud and identity theft was logged 4:13 p.m. on the 500 block of Haight Avenue from an individual whose data was used by an unknown suspect to open a line of credit.
  • DUI-plus more. A 33-year-old man was arrested at 2:42 a.m. on the 1300 block of Park Avenue for alleged driving under the influence, possession of an open container and/or marijuana and possession of a knife. The suspect was contacted on a traffic stop and unable to perform sobriety tests.
Tuesday, July 16
  • Moonlight stick-up. A man was robbed at gunpoint of his cell phone and wallet at 10:40 p.m. on the 2300 block of Moonlight Terrace. 
  • Drunk and disorderly and possessing pills. A 28-year-old male was arrested for suspected public intoxication and possession of an illegal prescription at 7:24 p.m. on the 2200 block of Otis Drive. 
  • Bike theft. Bolt cutters were used to remove and steal a locked bicycle at 7 p.m. on the 2200 block of San Antonio Avenue.
Monday, July 15
  • Burglar pushes victim down stairs. A resident on the 1300 block of Fountain Street reportedly walked in on a burglar who was in the victim's home and stealing money from a wallet at 3:53 p.m. The intruder shoved the individual down a flight of stair and fled in a car with the stolen cash. The suspect had entered the home through an unlocked back door.
