Police Log: Arson on Otis Drive, Peeping Tom, Attempting to Cash Back Checks

Incidents highlighted here were recorded in the Alameda Police Department log from June 27 to 30 Information was supplied by the police and does not indicate any convictions.

Thursday, June 27

  • 9:42 a.m.: A suspect dropped off three victims on the side of the sidewalk on the corner of Buena Vista Avenue and Sherman Street. The suspect then fled the area leaving the victims without any adult supervision.
  • 6:04 p.m.: Garage burglary was reported on the 1400 block of Page Street. Suspect entered victim's unsecured garage and took a chainsaw.
  • 7:48 p.m.: An outside warrant was issued at the corner of Broadway and Eagle Avenue. A 57-year-old man was arrested after being contacted as a suspicious person in the area of recent residential burglaries. He was found to have an outstanding warrant for his arrest.
Friday, June 28
  • 4:51 a.m.: A hit-and-run misdemeanor was reported on the 300 block of Beach Road. 
  • 12:58 a.m.: A suspect vehicle was observed to be driving recklessly along the corner of Broadway and Santa Clara Avenue. Vehicle fled from officers into Oakland. Pursuit was terminated at the Fruitvale bridge. 
  • 9:08 a.m.: A commercial burglary was reported at 1 Singleton Avenue. Suspect broke into victim's storage unit and took items without permission.
  • 4:01 p.m.: Bad checks were reported on the 2200 block of Otis Drive. Suspect entered business and attempted to pass a fictitious check. Suspect fled when two witnesses became suspicious. Suspect left behind his California ID.
  • 5:37 p.m.: Grand theft was reported on the 500 block of Palace Court. Suspect removed victim's furniture from in front of her residence and fled. 
Saturday, June 29
  • 12:25 a.m.: A peeping tom was reported on Buena Vista Avenue. Suspect jumped a fence and entered victim's backyard without her permission. Suspect reportedly entered the backyard twice within five hours and during hours of darkness.
Sunday, June 30
  • 3:23 a.m.: Arson was reported on Otis Drive. Suspect set clothing, papers, and other miscellaneous items on fire outside victim's house causing damage to the residence and adjacent home. Read the full report here.
  • 11:01 a.m.: Grand theft from a boat was reported on the 1800 block of Clement Avenue. Suspect stole boat motor from victim's boat.
  • 12:15 p.m.: Auto theft was reported on the 400 block of Central Avenue. Suspect took victim's vehicle without permission.
  • 5:19 p.m.: Vehicle burglary was reported on the 600 block of Westline Drive. Suspect smashed victim's car window and stole items from inside before fleeing in a vehicle.
