Police Log: Rock Throwing, Graffiti, Interrupted Burglary

Incidents highlighted here were recorded in the Alameda Police Department log from Sept. 9 to Sept. 10. Information was supplied by the police and does not indicate any convictions.

MONDAY, SEPT. 9

Shoplifting — Four people stole several items from Ulta Beauty at South shore Center.

Bike thefts — Bicycles were reported stolen in separate incidents in the 2200 block of Encinal Avenue and the 2200 block of San Jose Avenue.

Public intoxication — Police took a 44-year-old woman into custody after they found her standing in the middle of Santa Clara Avenue and yelling about 9:30 p.m.

Vandalism — Someone broke the windshield of a vehicle parked in the 400 block of Buena Vista Avenue.

TUESDAY, SEPT. 10

Shoplifting — A thief took six to eight bottles of liquor from a shelf at the South Shore Safeway, left the store without paying and fled in a vehicle driven by a second person.

Bathroom graffiti — Someone wrote messages on a stall door in a boys' restroom at Encinal High School.

Assault — An Alameda Police Department employee was preparing to tow a vehicle in the 300 block of Grand Street when someone threw a rock at her. The assailant's aim was not especially good and the rock landed about three feet away.

Phone found — An iPhone found in shopping cart at the CVS Pharmacy, 2314 Santa Clara Ave., was reported to police.

Burglars, interrupted — Would-be thieves entered a residence on Camanoe Lane through an unlocked door about 12:30 p.m. but fled went they heard a resident approaching.

Shoplifting — Someone stole two pairs of sunglasses at the Kohl's department store at South Shore Center. In an unrelated incident, a thief stole liquor from a store in the 1200 block of Lincoln Avenue.

Auto burglaries — In three separate incidents, thieves, broke windows of several vehicles and searched for items to steal. The incidents happened in the 1400 block of Pearl Street and the 2500 block of Blanding Avenue an at South Shore Center. On Main Street, someone stole a catalytic converter from a vehicle.
