Police Log: Sexual Assaults, Burglary, Damaging Police Car

Incidents highlighted here were recorded in the Alameda Police Department log Dec. 12-13. Not all incidents recorded in the log are included here. Information was supplied by the police and does not indicate any convictions.

THURSDAY, DEC. 12
Auto burglary Someone stole items from a vehicle parked on Shorepoint Court.

Auto theft — A vehicle was stolen from the 700 block of Eagle Avenue.

Grand theft — Jewelry was stolen from a Park Street residence.

Head-butting — A 22-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of public intoxication in the 1500 block of Park Street about 2:15 p.m. After the man was handcuffed and placed in a patrol car, he deliberately rammed his head against the passenger-side rear window, police said. Damage to the police vehicle is estimated at $264.

ID theft — Someone obtained an Alameda resident's personal financial information and used it to rent a car.

Grand theft — Several packages ready to be mailed were stolen from the front porch of a home in the 3500 block of Magnolia Drive.

Resisting police — a 41-year-old man tried to flee from police officers on his bicycle when they attempted to stop him for Municipal and Vehicle Code violations in the 1400 block of Webster Street about 6:30 p.m. While cycling, the man threw away a bag that was later found to contain a broken glass narcotics pipe, police said. Officers caught up with the man and arrested him on suspicion of resisting arrest, violating probation and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Petty theft — A cell phone was stolen from the boys' locker room at Encinal High School.

Sexual assault — Police are investigating a forcible rape reported at South Shore Center.

Coast Guard investigation — U.s. Coast Guard staff informed Alameda police that they are investigating a sexual assault that occurred in Coast Guard housing in Alameda.

FRIDAY, DEC. 13

Sex offense investigation — A 29-year-old man arranged to meet a 14-year-old Alameda girl in person after connecting with her on a social media site. Police said the man hugged and kissed the girl during their meeting.

Grand thefts — An outboard motor was stolen from a boat at the Grand Marina. In a separate incident, a catalytic converter was stolen from a vehicle parked on Mecartney Road.

Residential burglary — A burglar forced open a sliding glass door of an apartment in the 2400 block of Lincoln Avenue and stole various items.
