Police Log: Victim Escapes Kidnapping, Armed Robbery and Bones Discovered from Native American Burial Ground

Incidents highlighted here were recorded in the Alameda Police Department log from June 10 to 12. Information was supplied by the police and does not indicate any convictions.

Wednesday, June 12

  • 12:21 a.m.: An armed robbery was reported on the 300 block of Hollister Avenue. Suspects approached a victims from behind and grabbed one victim's purse, which caused her to fall to the ground. Another suspect pointed a gun at the second victim and demanded her belongings. Suspects fled on foot with the loss.
  • 10:43 a.m.: A vehicle burglary was reported on 8 Bertero Square. Suspects entered locked vehicle and stole a satellite radio.
  • 12:16 p.m.: A resident on Mound Street called APD to report bone fragments he found in front yard while repaving his walkway. The bones appeared to be from a old Native American burial ground.
  • 1:06 p.m.: Shoplifting was reported on the 2200 block of South Shore Center. A woman was arrested for stealing clothing from a store.
Tuesday, June 11
  • 12:27 a.m.: Kidnapping was reported on the corner of Buena Vista Avneue and 5th Street. A suspect forced victim into a vehicle driven by another suspect and occupied by a third suspect. The suspects fled the scene with the victim who later escaped.
  • 8:32 a.m.: Grand theft from vehicle was reported on the 1800 block of Poggi Street. Suspect removed wheels and tires from victim's vehicle.
  • 10:47 a.m.: Auto theft was reported on the 1800 block of Alameda Avenue. 
  • 6:02 p.m.: Shoplifting was reported on the 800 block of Island Drive. The suspect was cited for taking merchandise from the store without paying.
  • 4:48 p.m.: Forgery was reported on the 2200 block of Otis Drive. A suspect was arrested for attempting to open a new account at a business with a fraudulent stolen check. The suspect also had in her possession several individual's personal information. She had been suspected of Methamphetamine, drug paraphernalia and was driving on a suspended license. 
  • 10:31 p.m.: Residential burglary was reported on the 3200 block of Sterling Avenue. A suspect entered a residence through an open rear window, taking a safe and fleeing with it.
Monday, June 10
  • 8:01 a.m.: Grand theft was reported on the 1300 block of Park Street. A suspect stole victim's property from a bench.
  • 11:26 a.m.: Auto theft was reported on the 1800 block of Poggi Street. 
  • 2:38 p.m.: Grand theft was reported ont he 2300 block of Mariner Square Drive. Suspect stole victim's inflatable boat from dock.
  • 4:10 p.m.: Auto theft was reported on the 1700 block of 5th Street. 
  • 5:52 p.m.: Identity theft was reported on the 1000 block of Armitage Street. Suspect used victim's checking account information for an unauthorized purchase.
  • 7:17 p.m.: Identity theft was reported on the 2100 block of Chipman Street. Suspect used victim's personal information to apply for several different credit cards without her consent.
  • 10:22 p.m.: Auto theft was reported on the 2000 block of San Jose Avenue.
